Woman killed in collision at SR 50 and South Main Street in Hernando County

Hernando County, FL. – A woman was killed in a collision involving two vehicles on Saturday morning in Hernando County.
The deadly collision happened around 11:58 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 50 (SR-50) and South Main Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 39-year-old Ridge Manor man was driving a Kia K5 sedan eastbound on SR-50 and was attempting to turn left onto South Main Street when he collided with a westbound tractor-trailer driven by a 61-year-old Brooksville man.
The Ridge Manor man driving the Kia K5 was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
A 71-year-old Ridge Manor woman and a 49-year-old Ridge Manor woman who were passengers in the Kia were also hospitalized with serious injuries.
Sadly, the 71-year-old woman died while receiving treatment.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
