La Pine, OR – One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle accident in La Pine, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on August 9 at the intersection of Burgess Road and Huntington Road.

According to the authorities, witnesses said Jacob Werner, 44, of La Pine, was riding a blue 2005 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Burgess Road at a high rate of speed. He ran a red light and collided with a maroon 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee as it was making a left turn onto Huntington Road.

Werner was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 44-year-old La Pine woman, was taken to St. Charles Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

The Jeep driver, a 75-year-old man, and his passenger, a 73-year-old woman, both from La Pine, were uninjured. They remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigators.

Speed was the main factor in the accident.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
