Woman Killed, Rider Injured in Motorcycle Accident on 42nd Avenue in Bradenton

Palmetto Woman Sustains Fatal Injuries After Motorcycle Crash on 42nd Avenue and 59th Street

Bradenton, FL. – A 35-year-old Palmetto woman was killed after a DUI collision on Monday night in Bradenton, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident happened a while before 10:15 p.m. on July 7, on eastbound 42nd Avenue near 59th Street W.

Troopers said 52-year-old Milton May was heading eastbound on 42nd Avenue W when he went into the path of a motorcycle heading northbound on 59th Street W. His pickup truck crashed into the motorcycle.

The motorcycle passenger, a 35-year-old Palmetto woman, was killed in the collision.

The 28-year-old rider, a resident from Bradenton, sustained critical injuries and remained in the ICU.

Police said May remained at the crash site and showed signs of impairment. He refused a field sobriety test and was arrested and taken to the hospital. Police obtained a warrant for the collection of a blood sample and results are pending.

Following the release of May’s medical clearance, he will be taken to the Manatee County Jail for DUI causing serious injuries and DUI causing death.

An investigation is underway.
