Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on 159th Avenue in Homer Glen

Deputies said a driver was traveling eastbound on 159th Avenue when they hit a dog that was in the roadway. The motorist stopped and found an injured woman who appeared to have been hit by a hit-and-run driver.

Homer Glen, IL. – A  65-year-old woman of Lockport was killed after a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Friday evening in Homer Glen, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred a while after 6:00 p.m. on March 6, on 159th Avenue between Gougar and Cedar roads.

Deputies said a driver was traveling eastbound on 159th Avenue when they hit a dog that was in the roadway. The motorist stopped and found an injured woman who appeared to have been hit by a hit-and-run driver.

The motorist who stopped and a passerby aided the woman. She later died at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Autopsy results were pending.

The dog was also killed following the collision.

Authorities closed the roadway temporarily due to the crash.

An investigation is underway.
