Woman Killed, 1 Injured After Vehicle Accident on Diversey Avenue in Chicago

Police said a black sedan was heading west on Diversey Avenue when it lost control and hit a parked vehicle.

Chicago, IL. – A 31-year-old woman was killed, and another 31-year-old woman was injured after a traffic collision early Monday morning in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood.

According to the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of West Diversey Avenue.

Police said a black sedan was heading west on Diversey Avenue when it lost control and hit a parked vehicle.

The vehicle then swerved across the road and struck the rear of a semi-trailer truck headed east on Diversey Avenue.

A woman in the passenger seat of the black sedan was ejected and was declared dead at the crash site.

The sedan  driver was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in a stable condition.

The male truck driver was not hurt in the accident and he declined medical treatment.

No one was cited in connection with the crash.

Diversey Avenue was closed between Avers and Hamlin Avenues following the collision. The No. 76 Diversey CTA bus was rerouted. Drivers asked to use Belmont and Fullerton Avenues.

No additional information regarding this crash was provided.
