Woman Dies After Rollover Crash on US 20 in Stephenson County

Stephenson County, FL. – A 31-year-old woman from Freeport, Illinois was killed after a rollover collision on Sunday evening in Stephenson County, according to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident happened at around 5:45 a.m. on June 14 in the U.S. Route 20 and North Tower Road, just northeast of Freeport.

Deputies said a single vehicle was heading westbound on U.S. Route 20 when it left the roadway and entered the north ditch. It then became airborne after hitting a bridge embankment and rolled over severally before resting in the north ditch.

The driver, a 31-year-old woman, was found outside of her vehicle. She was declared dead at the crash site.

Authorities said the crash could have happened several hours before it was discovered and reported to the emergency unit. The driver did not have a seat belt at the time of the collision.

An investigation by the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office and the Stephenson County Coroner’s Office is underway.
