Lehigh Acres, FL. – A 76-year-old Vietnam War veteran was killed after a lawn mower accident on Tuesday evening in Lehigh Acres, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened at around 5:40 p.m. on March 10 on Monet Street.

Deputies said the veteran was mowing his lawn near a canal behind his home when the lawn mower went into the water and pinned him underneath.

Emergency crews found the man submerged beneath the water with a red lawn mower resting on top of him.

He was declared dead at 5:40 p.m. by the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District crews.
