Valdosta Woman Killed in Crash on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County

Police said the woman was heading west in the area when she lost control of her Chevrolet SUV. The SUV went off the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Valdosta Woman Dies After Jefferson County Crash on Interstate 10

Jefferson County, FL. – A 49-year-old Valdosta woman was killed, a passenger was severely hurt following a traffic collision on Thursday afternoon in Jefferson County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred after 7:30 p.m. June 19, on Interstate 10 at mile marker 217.

Police said the woman was heading west in the area when she lost control of her Chevrolet SUV. The SUV went off the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The Valdosta woman was declared dead at the crash site.

The male passenger, identified as Port Saint Joe, 37, was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with severe injuries.

The family of the deceased and Joe’s family have been notified.

The Jefferson County sheriff’s office and fire rescue were at the scene to assist the FHP.

An investigation is underway.
