Umatilla County, OR. – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident in Umatilla County early Monday morning, according to Oregon State Police.

The pedestrian accident occurred on Highway 395 near milepost 2 at around 5:53 a.m. on December 1.

A pedestrian was found unresponsive on the northbound shoulder of the highway. Evidence at the scene suggested a white commercial motor vehicle was involved and had fled before officers arrived.

A white Freightliner commercial truck and trailer, showing damage consistent with the collision, was later located and impounded. The operator, a man from Yakima, WA, was arrested for failing to perform the duties of a driver.

The pedestrian, a 31-year-old Umatilla woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No additional details were released.

The accident remains under investigation.
