Tucson, AZ. – One person died and four others were injured after a vehicle sideswiped another on Friday night in Tucson.The fatal crash happened in the 500 block of Speedway Boulevard.

A vehicle operated by a 35-year-old man had broken down in the eastbound lanes of Speedway Boulevard and was moved into the curb lane.

A Good Samaritan, along with two people who knew the driver, assisted by pushing the vehicle along the curb lane while the driver remained at the driver’s side door.

Police reported that a sedan, driven by a 72-year-old motorist, was speeding in the median lane when it drifted into the curb lane striking the driver and sideswiping the disabled vehicle, which as a result, struck the three individuals helping to push it.

The driver of the disabled vehicle died at the scene.

The three men assisting suffered minor injuries and were treated onsite.

The 72-year-old driver of the sedan was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and was believed to be impaired at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
