Police said a Trooper with ISP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau was stopped on the shoulder with their emergency lights activated, assisting a driver. A truck-tractor semi-trailer did not move over and hit the rear end of the squad vehicle, pushing it forward into the car the Trooper was assisting.

Iroquois County, IL. – A trooper was severely injured while three others were hurt following a traffic collision on Monday near Ashkum, Iroquois County.
According to the Illinois State Police, the accident happened on March 16 on northbound I-57.
Police said a Trooper with ISP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau was stopped on the shoulder with their emergency lights activated, assisting a driver. A truck-tractor semi-trailer did not move over and hit the rear end of the squad vehicle, pushing it forward into the car the Trooper was assisting.
The Trooper suffered severe non-life threatening injuries. The Trooper and three other people injured in the accident were taken to the hospital for treatment.
