Teen Girl Killed in Multi-Car Accident on I-95 in Riviera Beach

Troopers said the teen was heading northbound on I-95 in a Nissan Altima when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail and concrete wall before the vehicle came to a halt on the roadway. The teen alighted and leaned into the back seat when a man driving a BMW X3 collided with the Nissan throwing the girl onto the shoulder of the highway.

Riviera Beach, FL. – A 16-year-old girl was killed after a multi-vehicle accident on Wednesday morning in Riviera Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident happened a while before 12:30 a.m. on May 13 on Interstate 95 at Exit 76, Blue Heron Boulevard.

Troopers said the teen was heading northbound on I-95 in a Nissan Altima when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail and a concrete wall before the vehicle came to a halt on the roadway. The teen alighted and leaned into the back seat when a man driving a BMW X3 collided with the Nissan throwing the girl onto the shoulder of the highway.

The teen was declared dead at the scene.

A third vehicle operated by a 49-year-old man from Port St. Lucie tried to avoid the disabled Nissan but crashed into it before slamming into a concrete wall. The man was not hurt in the accident.

The BMW driver, a 21-year-old man from Jupiter, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

All lanes were reopened as of 6:10 a.m.

An investigation is underway.
