Starke County, IN. – One person was killed in a car crash on Monday morning near Hamlet in Starke County.
According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on U.S. 35 north of 700 North at around 8:30 a.m.
A commercial vehicle driven by a 50-year-old and carrying a roll-off dumpster was traveling southbound on US 35 when a large piece of wood fell off the container and struck a northbound 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The Chevrolet veered off the road and came to rest in a field.
The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox succumbed to injuries.
A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
