Tucson, AZ – A man, identified as 39-year-old Silas Jordan Polin, died following an auto-pedestrian crash in Tucson on Thursday, police said.

The accident took place on September 4 on Oracle Road, north of Fort Lowell.

According to authorities, Polin was on the Oracle Road median when, for unknown reasons, he stepped out into traffic against the red traffic control signal and was struck by a Jeep driven by a 17-year-old driver.

Polin was taken to a hospital where succumbed to his injuries a day later.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Investigators determined the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash and that the accident was largely caused by Polin going against traffic signals.

The police are investigating the accident.
