Troopers said a 2022 Cascadia Freightliner semi was in the inside lane when the driver tried to avoid hitting metal debris from an earlier crash blocking the lane. The driver then veered back to the left and went off the road and into the center median.

Volusia County, FL. – A semi-truck driver was killed after a traffic collision last week Saturday near Port Orange in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at around 6:41 p.m. on April 11, on Interstate 95, just north of the 256-mile marker
Troopers said a 2022 Cascadia Freightliner semi was in the inside lane when the driver tried to avoid hitting metal debris from an earlier crash blocking the lane. The driver then veered back to the left and went off the road and into the center median.
The left side of the truck crashed into several trees, damaging part of the side of the truck.
The truck driver was thrown out of the vehicle and was declared dead at the crash site.
It was not immediately known if the trooper was wearing a seatbelt at the time.
An investigation is ongoing.
