Two people on the Boilermaker Special were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Purdue, IN. – Savannah Mason, 23, has been identified as the woman who died in a collision involving Purdue University’s Boilermaker Special on Thursday afternoon in Purdue.
The fatal collision happened near the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 South and Wyandotte Road at around 4 p.m., according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office.
The Boilermaker Special, Purdue’s official mascot, was traveling northbound when the front driver-side tire blew. The Special veered into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with another car.
Mason, a resident of Lafayette was driving the other car and was killed in the accident.
The driver of the Special, Madison Cook, 20, of Noblesville, and passenger Taylor Melton, 22, of Rockport, were injured and were taken to hospital where they were treated and released.
The Indiana State Police Commercial Motor Division is investigating the accident.
