The man was taken to a local hospital in Salem before being airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital

Salem, IN. – A 60-year-old was seriously injured in a bicycle accident on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Salem Police Department, the accident happened around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Old State Road 56 and North Canton Road.
The man was riding a bicycle in the area and was struck by an off-duty Salem Police Department officer driving a department cruiser westbound on Old State Road 56.
The man was taken to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Salem before being airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital.
More details about the accident were not released.
