Ridgefield, WA. – One person was killed and four others were injured early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision near Ridgefield, according to the authorities.

The fatal collision occurred around 4:52 a.m., July 5, on Interstate 5.

Authorities said Skylar M. Wainis, 23, of Longview, was driving southbound when he rear-ended another car driven by 76-year-old Young H. Chun of Beaverton in the first lane.

After the initial collision, Wainis’ vehicle crossed the second and third lanes and hit a cable barrier before coming to a rest on the left shoulder. Chun’s car left the roadway, went through a Washington Department of Transportation fence, and came to a stop on Delfel Road.

Sadie L. Bobo, 19, of Portland, who was a passenger in Wainis’ car, was pronounced dead at the scene. Bobo was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Octovio L. Aguilar, 19, of Portland, who was also a passenger in Wainis’ vehicle, was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center for treatment. Aguilar was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Chun and his passenger, 69-year-old Bikja Sung of Beaverton, were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center for treatment. They were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Wainis was also taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center for treatment. He is facing charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

The authorities are investigating the accident.
