Deer Park, IL. – Robert Clauss, 71, has been identified as the Mount Prospect man who died in a car crash on Sunday morning in Deer Park.

According to the police, the accident happened around 10:20 a.m. on Lake Cook Road at Ferndale Road.

Clauss was driving an Alfa Romeo west on Lake Cook Road when he collided with a 2025 Jeep Wrangler that pulled in front of him while turning left from eastbound Lake Cook Road.

Clauss was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

A 63-year-old Mount Prospect woman riding in the Alfa Romeo was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

More details about the collision were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
