Road Ranger, Driver and Child Hurt in Accident on Sawgrass Expressway in Coral Springs

Coral Springs, FL. – A Road Ranger, driver and child were hurt after a traffic collision on Tuesday afternoon in Coral Springs, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on April 14 on Sawgrass Expressway near University Drive.

Troopers said the Road Ranger was parked behind a trooper in the center lane with emergency lights on and was helping a disabled tractor-trailer.

The Road Ranger and trooper were in the process of closing lanes and had cones and emergency devices on to alert drivers to drive slowly. The driver of a Genesis SUV failed to drive cautiously and slammed into the Road Ranger’s truck.

The Road Ranger was standing outside the truck, and he sustained a broken thumb. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Genesis driver and a small child, who was not in a child safety seat, were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The SUV sustained significant front-end damage following the crash.
