2 Seriously Hurt in Plane Crash near Daybreak Airport in Ridgefield

Authorities said two people were seriously injured after a small plane crashed and overturned Monday afternoon near Daybreak Airport in Ridgefield.

Ridgefield, WA.- Two people were seriously injured following a small plane accident Monday afternoon in Clark County, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. on August 11 east of Ridgefield near Daybreak Airport.

Authorities said emergency crews responded to the area and found the small aircraft overturned near the river.

Both people aboard the plane suffered serious injuries in the accident.

Officials said one person was able to exit the aircraft without assistance and was found sitting on the wing of the overturned plane.

Emergency crews had to remove part of the aircraft to free the second person who remained trapped inside.

One of the injured people was transported to a local hospital by air ambulance, while the other was taken to a hospital by ground ambulance.

Authorities have not released the identities of the two people or additional information regarding their conditions.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident as officials work to determine what caused the aircraft to go down.

The accident remains under investigation.
