Mesa, AZ – A motorcyclist was hospitalized with major injuries after a crash in Mesa early Monday morning, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said.

The collision was reported at about 5:30 a.m. on the southbound Loop 202 transition ramp from the eastbound U.S. 60.

Investigators said that a man was trying to avoid crashing into a vehicle that was changing lanes at the transition ramp, when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.

Responding troopers found the male rider down in the roadway, suffering from serious injuries. The man was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The Loop 202 transition ramp to U.S. 60 was shut down as troopers investigated the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
