Phoenix, AZ – A man in a wheelchair was hit and injured by a hit-and-run driver while crossing the street at a Phoenix intersection last on Sunday, according to a police report.

Authorities said Richard Reyes was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle at about 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Rayes suffered injuries on his arms, his back and ribs hurt.

He was heading to Cortez Park in his neighborhood when the crash occurred.

The vehicle that struck Reyes turned around and fled the scene leaving him down on the street. Other motorists stopped and moved him to safety.

The incident remains under investigation.
