The fatal collision occurred around 6:29 a.m. on August 2 at the intersection of State Route 28 and State Route 17.

Soap Lake, WA – One person was killed and another was injured early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision near Soap Lake, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred around 6:29 a.m. on August 2 at the intersection of State Route 28 and State Route 17.
WSP said a 2014 Kia Soul was traveling eastbound on SR 28 and was attempting to turn left onto northbound SR 17 when it was struck by a westbound 2007 Nissan Murano.
The force of the impact sent the Nissan into a ditch while the Kia came to rest on the shoulder of the highway.
The Nissan driver, 39-year-old Ricardo Alcantar Mesina of Moses Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Kia driver, 20-year-old Chloe R. Goforth of Wenatchee, was taken to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
The collision remains under investigation.
