Phoenix, AZ – Two people were killed and another was injured early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle accident in West Phoenix, according to officials.

The fatal accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on August 3 on Indian School Road near 57th Avenue.

Officials said 44-year-old Phyliss Wauneka was driving and was attempting to drive across the roadway when she was hit by a speeding vehicle.

Phyliss was pronounced dead at the scene. A man and a woman were taken to the hospital where the man, 37-year-old Antonio Wauneka, later died.

The other driver stayed at the scene.

Impairment was not a factor in the accident.

The accident closed both directions of Indian School Road between 59th Avenue to 55th Avenue.

The accident remains under investigation.
