The man crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into another car driven by a 35-year-old woman

Phoenix, AZ. – Two people were killed in a two-car accident in Phoenix on Thursday night, according to the police.
The fatal accident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Lower Buckeye Road near 75th Avenue.
Police said an officer pulled over a 40-year-old man, who was suspected of being impaired, near 59th Avenue and Buckeye Road.
After the man spoke to the officers for several minutes, he fled from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed, heading westbound on Lower Buckeye Road.
The man crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into another car driven by a 35-year-old woman.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident closed the roadway for several hours.
The police are investigating the accident.
