Pedestrian Struck and Injured by Vehicle on South Giant City Road in Carbondale

Pedestrian Hospitalized After Crash on South Giant City Road

Carbondale, IL. – A pedestrian was struck and injured by a vehicle following a traffic collision on Sunday night in Carbondale, according to the Carbondale Police.

The accident happened at about 11:00 p.m. on August 10, in the 600 block of South Giant City Road.

Officers said a driver pulled over to check on a deer that appeared to have been hit by another vehicle. While outside the vehicle he was hit by another car that also crashed into the parked vehicle.

The injured driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The responsible motorist was cited for several offenses including driving with suspended vehicle registration, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

An investigation is underway.
