Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Accident at Ashland and Belmont Avenues in Chicago

Police said a 19-year-old man was driving a white SUV south on Ashland before turning right on Belmont Avenue and sideswiped another car which was traveling west on Belmont Avenue. The SUV then careened into a CTA bus stop and hit a man standing nearby.

Chicago, IL. – A pedestrian was severely hurt after a traffic collision on Sunday night on Chicago’s North Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The accident occurred a while before 10:40 p.m. on April 19, at Ashland and Belmont avenues.

Police said a 19-year-old man was driving a white SUV south on Ashland before turning right on Belmont Avenue and sideswiped another car which was traveling west on Belmont Avenue. The SUV then careened into a CTA bus stop and hit a man standing nearby.

The man sustained non-life threatening injuries following the crash. He was transported to Illinois Masonic hospital in good condition.

The two drivers were not injured in the crash.

Citations are pending.
