Hillside, IL. – A pedestrian was killed, and eight other persons were injured following a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles on Wednesday in a Walgreens parking lot in Hillside.

According to the Hillside Police Department, the accident happened on December 18, at the Butterfield Road and Wolf Road intersection.

Police said the pedestrian was entering a parking lot when they were hit by a vehicle. The driver, a 73-year-old driver, then hit a police squad vehicle stopped at a red light. He drove on and crashed into multiple other cars.

The pedestrian was killed in the crash. Eight other people including two police officers and the driver were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police believed the man suffered a medical emergency due to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
