Police said a 16-year-old female was heading southbound in a blue Hyundai Elantra when she became distracted, left the travel lane and hit a pedestrian.

Lane County, OR. – A pedestrian was killed after a traffic collision on Tuesday afternoon near Junction City in Lane County, according to the Oregon State Police.
The accident happened at 4:48 p.m. on May 5, on Highway 99W near milepost 110.5.
Police said a 16-year-old female was heading southbound in a blue Hyundai Elantra when she became distracted, left the travel lane and hit a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man from Junction City, was walking along the southbound shoulder of the highway.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The female driver sustained minor injuries after the crash.
She remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
The Junction City Police Department, the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office assisted the OSP.
