Astoria, OR. – A 77-year-old woman died after being struck by a car in Astoria on Sunday morning.
According to the police, the accident happened at 16th Street and Irving Avenue at around 9:18 a.m.
Patricia Harrison, of Astoria, was walking in the area and was hit by a car operated by 50-year-old Michael Munson Smith.
The vehicle did not stop at the scene and struck another vehicle as it fled.
The woman was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
Michael was found in the 1700 block of Jerome Avenue and taken into custody.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
