Parish Man Seriously Injured, Driver Arrested After Crash on I-75 in Sun City Center

Troopers said traffic on northbound lanes was moving slowly because of an unrelated car fire near the Sun City Center exit. A tractor-trailer operated by a 45-year-old Citrus Springs was trying to make an illegal U-turn into the southbound lanes.

Sun City Center, FL. – A 28-year-old Parrish man was injured after a traffic collision on Monday afternoon in Sun City Center, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on February 9, on I-75 near Hillsborough-Manatee County line.

Troopers said traffic on northbound lanes was moving slowly because of an unrelated car fire near the Sun City Center exit. A tractor-trailer operated by a 45-year-old Citrus Springs was trying to make an illegal U-turn into the southbound lanes. The tractor-trailer and a Toyota Corolla operated by the Parish man crashed.

The Parish man sustained severe injuries and was rushed to an area hospital for treatment.

The tractor-trailer was not hurt in the collision. He was arrested and taken to jail.
