Arlington Heights, IL. – A motorcyclist was killed after a motorcycle accident early Monday morning in Arlington Heights, according to the Illinois State Police.

The crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on Illinois northbound Route 53, near Rand Road.

Police said a motorcycle and a dump truck crashed for reasons yet to be determined.

The rider was declared dead at the crash site.

All northbound and southbound lanes on Route 53 were blocked following the collision.

Northbound Route 53 from Palatine Road to Lake Cook Road was reopened. However, southbound Route 53 from Lake Cook Road to Palatine Road stayed blocked.

Further details regarding this crash were not available.

An investigation is underway.
