Las Vegas, NV. – An 18-year-old high school senior died after being struck by a car on Friday morning in Las Vegas.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the accident happened around 11:30 a.m. on the 7500 block of Whispering Sands Drive, near Grand Teton Drive and Buffalo Drive.

McKenzie Scott, an Arbor View High School student, was crossing the street when she was hit by a Chevrolet Malibu driven by 37-year-old Keenan Jackson.

The driver failed to yield and continued to sideswipe an unoccupied Toyota parked along the street

Scott was transported to University Medical Center where she later died.

Jackson remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of impairment.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
