Phoenix, AZ – A 93-year-old man died in an auto-pedestrian accident in Phoenix early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The incident happened at about 5:30 a.m. September 4, on Thunderbird Road near 27th Avenue.

Investigators believe the victim ignored the “do not walk signal” and crossed the street in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle.

The elderly man suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Another vehicle was also involved in the crash.

Investigators ruled out the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash.

Thunderbird Road was shut in both westbound and eastbound lanes near 27th Avenue.

The police are investigating the accident.
