Authorities said a 55-year-old male employee was trying to load a large metal spool onto a flatbed truck using an overhead crane. The crane then gave way and caused the spool to fall from undisclosed height and fall on the man.

Carol Stream, IL. – A male worker was killed after a work accident on Tuesday afternoon at a full-service distribution site in west suburban Carol Stream, according to Carol Stream Fire Protection District.
The accident happened a while after noon on March 31, in the 400 block of Saint Paul Blvd, at S & S International, also known as Specialty Rolled Metals, LLC.
Authorities said a 55-year-old male employee was trying to load a large metal spool onto a flatbed truck using an overhead crane. The crane then gave way and caused the spool to fall from undisclosed height and fall on the man.
The man was declared dead at the crash site.
An investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is underway.
