Phoenix, AZ. – A 70-year-old male driver was killed and a 66-year-old female passenger was severely injured after a head-on collision on Saturday morning in Phoenix.
According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the accident happened on June 7 at 36th Street and Thomas Road.
Fire officials said an SUV and a vehicle were involved. The SUV reportedly swerved off the roadway into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into the other vehicle.
The SUV driver, a 70-year-old man, was declared dead at the hospital.
A passenger in the SUV, a 66-year-old female, was hospitalized with severe injuries.
Police said the driver of the second vehicle was not hurt and never showed signs of impairment.
The incident remains under investigation.
