Lincoln City, OR. – A pedestrian died after being struck by a car on Friday in Lincoln City, according to the police.
The fatal accident happened at the intersection of Northwest 15th Street and Highway 101.
Police said an 80-year-old Lincoln City man was struck by a vehicle on the street.
The man was taken to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital where he later died.
The driver, a 45-year-old man also from Lincoln City, fled the scene after the accident. The vehicle was later located outside city limits and was seized by the authorities.
The driver turned himself in at the Lincoln City Police Department on February 22. He was arrested and taken to the Lincoln County Jail on a charge of Failure to Perform Duties of Driver to Injured Persons.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
