Las Vegas, NV. – A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car on Tuesday morning in Las Vegas.
According to the Las Vegas Police Department, the accident happened around 2 a.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard near Owens Avenue.
A vehicle was traveling westbound on Owens at a high rate of speed when the driver veered off the street and hit a woman who was walking on the sidewalk.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the passenger initially fled the scene but later returned and were arrested.
Police suspect that the two were under the influence of drugs and will face multiple charges, including DUI.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
