Police said a 52-year-old man of Ocala was heading eastbound in a pickup truck in the right lane on SR 200 when a sedan was heading westbound on the same roadway in the left turn lane and was trying to turn onto 103rd Street Road.

Ocala, FL. – Larry Whitler, 70, a longtime Ocala radio host and community volunteer, was killed after a two-vehicle accident on Thursday evening in Ocala, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on SR 200 and Southwest 103rd Street Road at around 7:24 p.m. July 17.
Police said a 52-year-old man of Ocala was heading eastbound in a pickup truck in the right lane on SR 200 when a sedan was heading westbound on the same roadway in the left turn lane and was trying to turn onto 103rd Street Road.
The pickup driver did not stop at a red light and hit the sedan’s passenger side.
Whistler, a passenger in the sedan, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital where he died at 7:50 p.m.
The sedan driver, identified as 70-year-old Robin MacBlane of Ocala, was listed in a critical condition.
The pickup driver sustained minor injuries due to the crash.
No additional information concerning this collision was provided.
