Klamath County, OR. – One person was killed, and four others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday morning in Klamath County.

According to the Oregon State Police, the accident occurred on Highway 97 near milepost 181 at around 9:55 a.m.

Preliminary reports indicate a gold Chevrolet Silverado, operated by a Bend woman, was traveling southbound on Highway 97 when it crossed into the northbound lane after losing control due to icy roadway conditions.

The Silverado collided head-on with a northbound black Toyota Tacoma, operated by a Coos Bay woman, before striking a blue Dodge Ram towing a small trailer, operated by an Oakridge man.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Coos Bay man who was a passenger in the Toyota was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Bend woman driving the Silverado, as well as the Oakridge couple in the Dodge Ram, were treated for minor injuries at an area hospital.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
