The fatal crash happened on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at about 3:41 p.m., on Highway 99 near milepost 10.

Lane County, OR — The Oregon State Police is investigating a four-vehicle traffic collision that left one person dead and four others, including two juveniles, injured on Highway 99 in Lane County on Tuesday last week.
OSP identified the deceased victim as Joseph M. Peters, 35, of Cottage Grove.
The fatal crash happened on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at about 3:41 p.m., on Highway 99 near milepost 10.
Investigators said 46-year-old Creswell Man, Sheldon Bryce Moore, was driving a white Chevrolet Silverado dually pickup south on Highway 99 when he slowed to negotiate a turn. Another motorist, identified as Tenielle Lynette Long-Piccolo, 35, of Cottage Grove, driving a white Chevrolet Tahoe directly behind the Silverado also slow. The Tahoe was rear-ended by a southbound blue Mazda Tribute driven by Joseph M. Peters, 35, of Cottage Grove.
The impact caused the Mazda to veer into the northbound lane, where it collided with a white Ford F-350 pickup towing a dump trailer loaded with dirt and rocks.
Peters was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. OSP said Peters died from his injuries at the hospital on Friday, June 20.
Long-Piccolo and two female juveniles, ages 14 and 9, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital.
The Ford F-350 driver, identified as 34-year-old Marcelo Analco Garcia from Eugene, sustained minor injuries but was not transported.
Moore was not hurt.
Highway 99 was closed for about three hours as crews and investigators worked at the scene.
The collision remains under investigation.
