Troopers said workers were cleaning an area along the side of the highway when a fast-moving truck approached them and hit the passenger side of the road crew’s vehicle.

Mesa, AZ. – Jordan Curtis was critically hurt after a cement truck mixer crashed into a roadside crew on Wednesday morning in Mesa, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The accident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on June 11 on U.S. 60 near Val Vista Exit.
Troopers said workers were cleaning an area along the side of the highway when a fast-moving truck approached them and hit the passenger side of the road crew’s vehicle. The truck hit Curtis and narrowly missed at least one other.
DPS said the truck operator was cited for failing to avoid the crash.
Curtis, employed by Desert Dogs, a company contracted with ADOT, was critically injured.
He sustained traumatic injuries, including face and body cuts, a shattered wrist and several broken bones.
He was rushed to Banner Desert Medical Center where he is still hospitalized.
The driver was also injured in the collision.
An investigation is underway.
