The Subaru driver was pronounced dead at the scene

Jefferson County, OR. – One person was killed and another was injured in a head-on collision in Jefferson County on Monday afternoon, according to the police.
The fatal collision happened around 4:01 p.m. on Highway 97 near milepost 102.
Police said a 55-year-old La Grande man was driving a Subaru Forester northbound on the highway when he crossed into the southbound lane for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a southbound Jeep Cherokee driven by a 34-year-old from Bend.
The Subaru driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jeep driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The collision closed the highway for about three hours.
Police are investigating the collision.
