Pedestrian Critically Hurt in Accident on Interstate 15 near Jean

Troopers said a pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday on Interstate 15 near Jean.

Jean, NV.- A pedestrian was critically injured following an accident Tuesday on Interstate 15 near Jean, according to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 12:11 p.m. on August 11 on northbound Interstate 15 near mile marker 12.

Troopers said the pedestrian, identified as an adult woman, was struck by a vehicle on the northbound side of the interstate.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and the woman was transported by medical helicopter to a local hospital with critical injuries.

Law enforcement closed the northbound side of Interstate 15 while emergency crews assisted the injured pedestrian and investigators examined the scene.

Drivers were diverted from the interstate at State Route 161, resulting in several miles of traffic backup while the roadway remained closed.

All northbound lanes of Interstate 15 reopened at approximately 2:05 p.m.

Authorities have not released additional information about the driver or the circumstances that led to the collision.

The accident remains under investigation.
