Benton County, WA. – A 68-year-old man was killed in a car accident on Friday morning near Mattawa in Benton County.
The fatal collision happened around 11 a.m. on Highway 24 at milepost 43, at the Vernita Rest Area.
James L. Sandall was pulling out of the rest area and was turning left onto SR 24 when he collided with a westbound vehicle.
The Yakima man was killed in the accident.
Authorities said no drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
