Sierra Vista, AZ – A young Sierra Vista girl was injured on Monday in a bicycle accident in Sierra Vista, according to the Sierra Vista Police Department.
The accident happened on August 11 at the intersection of Coronado Drive and Golf Links Road.
Police said the girl was riding her bike to school with her brother when she was struck by a pickup truck that was making a left turn. She was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident and was wearing a helmet.
The girl, who is a student at Town and Country Elementary, was taken to Canyon Vista Medical Center. She was later airlifted to a hospital in Tucson. She was listed in stable condition.
The pickup truck driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
The police are investigating the accident.
