Tucson, AZ – The Tucson Police Department has identified a motorcyclist killed after a Monday crash at an intersection in Tucson as 63-year-old Frank David Campa.
The incident happened on June 9 at the intersection of Alvernon Way and Benson Highway.
Investigations indicated that a 40-year-old man driving a westbound dump truck on Benson Highway when it stopped for a red light in the curb lane.
At the same time, Campa was heading in the same direction as he approached the intersection. For unknown reasons, Campa passed the line of stopped cars on the shoulder to their right. He positioned himself next to the dump truck at the front line.
When the light turned green, the dump truck started making a right turn onto northbound Alvernon Way hitting Campa.
Campa was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
The police said the male driver was not impaired at the time of the crash.
