
Lee County, FL. – A firefighter sustained critical injuries after a traffic collision early Sunday morning in Lee County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 12:33 a.m. on September 14, on southbound I-75 near mile marker 116.
Police said an SUV was heading south on I-75 and was approaching the slower traffic when the SUV swerved into the shoulder to avoid a crash with the stopped traffic and struck the firefighter.
The firefighter suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Gulf Coast Hospital and is now in a stable condition.
The Bonita Springs Fire Control & Rescue District assisted the FHP at the scene.
An investigation is underway.
