Deputies said Johnson was struck by a hit and run driver for reasons yet to be determined. She was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon and was declared dead in the emergency room at 4:35 a.m.

Belleville, IL. – Emily Johnson, 33, of Mascoutah has been identified as the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Thursday morning near Eckert’s in Belleville, St.Clair County, according to the St.Clair County Coroner’s Office.
The accident happened at 3:30 a.m. on August 21 in the 900 block of South Green Mount Road.
Deputies said Johnson was struck by a hit and run driver for reasons yet to be determined. She was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon and was declared dead in the emergency room at 4:35 a.m.
The driver fled the scene after the collision.
Authorities said the involved vehicle was located and one suspect was arrested.
The Belleville Police Department is investigating the accident.
